About the Artist

As a local Florida artist, her artwork is created with environmentally kind paints and a combination of natural materials, designed to bring out the best in her custom painted murals and plaster art. The materials used are varied and are designed to cause speculation and contemplation while providing a pleasurable experience. Her techniques were acquired and ingrained by incorporating the family business from her parents, a writer and a faux plasterer from Lake Wales, Florida, and through her art she expresses the emotions and love of creativity through her dramatic and personal art style.

Karen J. Kenney has done numerous artworks throughout the United States, including the Tampa Bay area. She has been featured on WTVT (ch.13) Down Home Florida, the premier edition of "Big Guava Magazine", Tampa Tribune (Home & Garden), Best of Tampa Bay Magazine, Home Trends Magazine and was in part, a creative designer of the Emerging Spirit Sculpture Exhibition at Converse College, Spartanburg, S.C. She also designs and creates back splashes and specialty artistic fireplaces for homes and businesses. Your thoughts and comments are welcome in regard to her one-of-a-kind creations.

Karen creates design work for national artists, including commercial art projects for the United States Government.

She absorbs through sight, brains and heart, and out it flows through her hands.

Artist Statement

With a sense of humor, freelance artist Karen J. Kenney a true Florida Cracker, focuses on the creation and professional presentation of specialty artwork. Her work consists of, while not limited to, Trompe L'oeil murals specializing in "Floribean" tropical themes along with personalized designs emphasizing her passion for vibrant colors and an eye for detail with a realistic strong visual impact.

Her faux plastering style displays the concept of mini billboards using a dynamic three dimensional fresco technique involving natural elements and displaying a gift for storytelling with charm and simplicity.
